Workography data provides employment sources from the current 5 year American Community Survey estimates.  The dataset includes employment, occupation & industry, and commuting data.

Workography Variables by Work Related Categories

The Workography variables span across various types of categories:

EMPLOYMENT DATA
Employment Status, Hours Worked, Employer Type, Disability

The EMPLOYMENT DATA includes information giving the employment status, work class, number of hours and weeks worked, and disability status of employed persons.   

OCCUPATION DATA
Types of Occupations, Occupations by Gender and Race

The OCCUPATION DATA describe the kind of work a person does on the job. The occupation categories follow the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes that list 539 specific categories organized in 23 major occupational groups. 

INDUSTRY DATA
Types of Industries where Employed

The INDUSTRY DATA describe the kind of business conducted by a person's employing organization. The industry classification system that is used is a modified version of the NAICS consisting of 269 categories for employed people, including military, classified into 20 sectors.  

COMMUTING DATA
Commuting geography, travel time, means, time leaving for work

The CUMMUTING DATA includes information about travel within and between geographical areas, amount of time traveled to work (per worker and aggregate totals), type of vehicle used in the commute (including public transportation) and time of day leaving for work.
