INCOME INEQUALITY

The GINI Index is a measure of statistical dispersion intended to represent the income distribution, and is the most commonly used measure of inequality. The most equal society will be one in which every person receives the same income (value=0); the most unequal society will be one in which a single person receives 100% of the total income and the remaining people receive none (value=1-1/N). The index shows a value from 0 to 1.
